Pet sitting and home visits
🏠 Professional, Compassionate Care in Your Pet’s Own Home
Leaving your pet while you’re away can be stressful — for both you and them. My pet sitting and home visit service is designed to give you complete peace of mind, knowing your animal is being cared for by a UK Registered Veterinary Nurse in the place they feel safest: their own home.
For many animals, particularly cats, small pets, seniors, or those with medical or emotional needs, staying at home is far less stressful than going into kennels or cattery environments. Familiar smells, routines, and surroundings help maintain emotional balance and reduce anxiety while you’re away.
💜 Why Choose a Veterinary Nurse for Home Visits?
With over 30 years of veterinary nursing experience, I bring a level of observation, knowledge, and calm confidence that goes far beyond basic pet sitting.
During each visit, I’m not just feeding and cleaning — I’m assessing your pet’s wellbeing in a gentle, unobtrusive way, noticing subtle changes that others may miss.
This includes:
• Monitoring appetite, thirst, toileting, and behaviour
• Noticing early signs of illness, discomfort, or stress
• Administering routine medications where appropriate
• Supporting senior pets or those with ongoing conditions
• Providing reassurance, companionship, and emotional support
Should I notice anything concerning, I can advise you promptly and, if needed, help you decide whether veterinary attention is required.
🐾 The Benefits of In-Home Care
Home visits are especially beneficial for:
• Cats who find travel and unfamiliar environments distressing
• Small pets with specific husbandry and environmental needs
• Senior animals who thrive on routine and familiarity
• Nervous or sensitive pets
• Multi-pet households
• Animals recovering from illness or injury
Your pet remains relaxed in their own space, maintaining their usual routine as closely as possible — which supports both emotional and physical wellbeing.
🧠 Husbandry Support & Gentle Coaching
Alongside caring for your pets, I’m happy to offer gentle, supportive guidance on husbandry and daily care where helpful.
This might include:
• Feeding routines and portion guidance
• Environmental enrichment and mental stimulation
• Litter tray setup and hygiene
• Small pet housing, bedding, and temperature needs
• Supporting ageing pets with comfort and accessibility
• Improving routines to reduce stress or boredom
My approach is always kind, practical, and non-judgemental. I understand that every household is different, and my aim is to empower you with simple, achievable suggestions that support your pet’s wellbeing long-term.
✨ What’s Included in Each Visit
• Feeding and fresh water
• Litter tray or cage cleaning
• Health and wellbeing checks
• Playtime, cuddles, or calm companionship (led by your pet)
• Medication administration if required
• A message or photo update after each visit for your peace of mind
Visits are tailored to your pet’s individual needs — whether they enjoy interaction or prefer quiet reassurance from a distance.
💜 Peace of Mind While You’re Away
Knowing your pet is being cared for by a qualified professional allows you to relax and enjoy your time away. You can trust that your animal’s physical health, emotional comfort, and daily routine are all being respected and supported.
🐶 A Note About Dog Care
I do not provide overnight dog sitting or live-in care.
However, I can offer daytime or evening dog sitting by arrangement, depending on availability and your dog’s individual needs. This may include welfare visits, companionship, or support alongside training, behaviour work, or weight management plans.
This approach allows me to maintain clear, safe, and professional boundaries while ensuring your dog receives attentive, knowledgeable care from a UK Registered Veterinary Nurse.
Please feel free to get in touch to discuss your requirements and see whether this service is the right fit for you and your dog.
